How to keep healthy joints...

Improving your mobility is just as important as maintaining your strength. However, because mobility relies a lot on your joints, it is directly impacted by the state of these joints…

First of all what is a joint? A joint is the part of the body where two or more bones meet to allow movement.

You can understand that unhealthy joints will lead to reduced movement, therefore loss of strength, and a chain reaction leading to a less active lifestyle, pain, inflammation and the list goes on.

Here are some of my top tips to help you keep those joints healthy and ready for action!

As you know by now, many things are directly correlated by what goes into our bodies.

  1. Add Anti-Inflammatory Foods in your plate such as salmon (try to get the wild alaskan salmon, stay away from the farm salmon even the organic…), sardines, walnuts, and flaxseeds. The aim is reducing inflammation which is the source of many evils when it comes to health. Make sure to include a lot of organic dark leafy greens and wild berries.

  2. Reduce sugar consumption. Sugar elevates inflammation. It also raises the quantity of bad bacterias in our gut which love to feed off sugar. This can affect the good bacterias from working well and reduce or impair the assimilation and absorption of important nutrients to our cells.

  3. Boost Collagen Production

Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body and is essential for joint health. It accounts for about 30% of your body’s total protein. Collagen is the primary building block of your body’s skin, muscles, bones, tendons and ligaments, and other connective tissues. You can help your joints stay healthy by consuming collagen-rich foods like bone broth, chicken, and fish. Vitamin C is very important when it comes to collagen synthesis, therefore make sure to eat citrus fruits, parsley and blackcurrants along with your collagen rich food or supplement.

  4. Add Anti-Inflammatory Spices

Turmeric (curcuma), ginger, and cinnamon are amazing anti-inflammatory spices that can be incorporated into your meals to help reduce joint pain and inflammation. They are so easy to add to drinks, bowls, smoothies, and soups! I usually have a small jar of freshly pressed ginger and one of turmeric, and I easy add a spoon into my drinks or soups!

  5. Stay Hydrated

Proper hydration is crucial for joint lubrication and overall bodily functions. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, ginger tea, herbal infusions and incorporate hydrating foods such as cucumbers, watermelon, and celery!

  6. Try Cryotherapy

Cold therapy can be an amazing way to help lower inflammation and it has so many other health benefits, which I will not even start listing here as it would be the theme of an entire other newsletter :)

  7. Move! Movement is key to maintaining healthy joints! Our bodies are designed to move. Therefore choose movement any time you can!

Be consistent and be patient with your body. Try including these tips in your daily routine to help support joint health, reduce inflammation, and enhance your overall well-being!
